OLA PROPOSED/ADOPTED
“STEERING COMMITTEE” MEETING AGENDA/MINUTES,
October 24, 2002
A request is being made
for those of us who have thus far been actively engaged with the OLA
organizing effort to have a very brief (15 minutes max) face-to-face
“agenda setting” meeting, at 6:30pm this Thursday (October 24, 2002), in
the lunchroom adjoining the Community Room of the Petit Jean building.
Meeting
convened at approximately 6:35pm. Larry Williams, Don Richardson, Merl
Eoff, Alice Chambers, Lula Holeman, Daniel Weiss, Robert Reed and
Christine Weiss, attending. Terry Presnell and David Buyers expressed
regrets.
As this would be a
special meeting of (what would properly be termed) the OLA Steering
Committee, the agenda for this meeting would be limited to the following:
1) – Questions & Answers
about “who is doing what” during the course of the 7:00pm to 9:00pm voter
assembly.
Voter-ed
meeting to convene with "OLA welcome skit" (by Weiss children) and Pledge
of Alliegance; Don Richardson makes opening remarks and announcements,
introduces speakers, moderates questions & answers; each pro/con speaker
allotted 3 minutes for opening remarks, 2 minutes rebuttal, 3 minutes to
respond to each question.
Three
$10 cash donations plus two trays of cookies and six boxes of "cheesecake
snacks" donated for refreshments.
2) – Questions &
Answers, as above, about the October 28 “meet the candidates” assembly.
Idea for
this assembly forwarded by Glen Rainwater and Kenny Lasater, who made all
arrangements for use of Woodmen of the World meeting room and have also
invited various candidates/voters and requested OLA production &
publicizing support. Larry Williams is to emcee/moderate. Evening's
agenda, consisting of Open Forum Q & A format, will develop somewhat in
accord of how many candidates show up but will keep to the "equal time"
pro/con format.
3) – Set date, time (and
location?) for next OLA “business meeting.”
The next
general business meeting of the group, which will look at possible “next
step” projects and plans, is set for 6pm, Thursday, November 14, 2002, in
a meeting room at the Western Sizzlin' Steak, 1468 U.S. Highway 65, on the
south side of Clinton. All voters and citizens are welcome and encouraged
to attend.
Christine Weiss is to confirm the location (done)
and distribute news releases announcing the meeting date.
Respectfully submitted,
Christine Weiss, 10/26/02 |
