 Achievements and Awards Members Have Received

Patti Dunlap has designed and is selling 2006 calendars featuring her artwork. Patti also designs the cover of the Cherokee Village telephone directory. She has finished her commissioned art work for Suwannee Log Homes of Cherokee Village. In October 16-22 Patti won an Honorable mention ribbon at a juried art show in Thayer, Missouri.Patti exhibited at the Sixth Annual Arts Fair in Ash Flat, AR. She was asked for sketches of historic buildings for the upcoming Pocahontas Centennial celebration. In October her work will be on sale at the Octoberfest in Cherokee Village, AR. 
 
Carol Funke had a solo exhibit at the Imperial Dinner Theatre September through October and was the featured artist at the Spring River Art Gallery in Hardy, Arkansas in the month of July. Carol was accepted into the show at the Margaret Harwell Museum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and received an honorable mention  for the handmade paper piece titled, "Building Blocks."

Joan Ewaldsen just finished publishing her 12th book, In the Shadow of His Wings. Joan is presently working on her 13th book "Are You Ready to Order?"
Pat Oplinger is presently working on the first collaborative volume of poetry and art she and Carol Funke and wanting to get it to print this year. Pat submitted a story to the "Tales from the South" radio program sponsored by the Starving Artist Cafe in Little Rock owned by Paula Morrell and her husband, Jason. 
Jennie Lewis won a third place with her poem from White County Writers Contest. Lewis has resumed writing again on her book about her family.
Nancy Thurston finished her third narration for the Cherokee Village Chorus. President Thurston is continuing her research on artist Esperanza Gabey (1874-1963). It will take her to the Berkshire Mountains of New York next month. 
Dorothy Mas has titled her new play, "The Ancient mariner and the Co-ed." She is searching for venues for a reading of this play. "Looking for God" is the current title of another play she is working on.
Darlene Martin has finished her two novels and has begun a third novel. Darlene is currently submitting query letters and synopsis of her manuscript "Power of Love" to publishers.
Gina Beth Clark has her new children's book published. "The Peepe's of Rock Garden Hill" is about two children who are out on an excursion and find themselves enthralled when they met Donavan, the chief of the Peepe's. The Peepe's inhabit a hill in the forest that looks like a rock garden. This is Ms. Clarks seventh book published. 
Barbara Massie won a Second Place for a short story with "Another World" and a Second Honorable mention for a paranormal romance with "Pa's Woman."
Melinda Williams is currently reading manuscripts for the "Story Store" submitted to her by the gifted and talented students in area schools. 
Lucia Greer is the editor of Passport Journal an online quarterly magazine. Also Lucia is the editor for Casa-Chia Library. A monthly newsletter for Landscape Architect, Connie Cottingham from Georgia. Lucia also designed web sites for Gravette Chamber of Commerce (Gravette.biz) and Gravettelibrary.com, and Stratagems.org.

Jennie Lewis won a third place with her poem from White County Writers Contest.

Dorothy Mas is currently writing five short plays on the collage days in the years 1940-1942.

Altha Murphy, who wrote "Naked Ears," is now writing a story about going back to work after her second retirement. Currently Altha is submitting articles to Mature Living Magazine.
Melinda Williams new play is being performed at the First Presbyterian Church in London, Ohio (outside of Cincinnati). This is a collaboration of the musical "Angel with an Attitude" and the book (or story) Melinda wrote. Marilyn Randall Loudon of Tennessee wrote the music and lyrics.

Alexandria LaFaye was nominated for the Golden Anchor Award for her book "Worth." This book won the Children's Choice Award in Wisconsin. "Worth" is a story about a Nebraska farmer who brings an orphan boy in to help in the fields. This is a fresh prospective of how the orphan trains shaped families. Other books Alexandria wrote are: "Year of Fall Dust Man," "Nissa's Place," "The Strength of Saints," "Edith Shay," "Strawberry Hill," "Dad, In Sprit."
