Especially noteworthy about the above is that the “talent” for which
Shalom received such high praise was that of “recitation.” That is, she
memorized two poems (Casey at the Bat and A Peck of Gold),
choreographed
body language and designed
costumes to complement each and performed these
as separate theatrical soliloquies.
By invitation, Shalom performed “Casey at the Bat” during a Poetry Slam at
the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, on stage at the City of Clinton’s
annual
Archey Fest, and also (accompanied by a hand
signing translator) as
the opening act for the
performance of
Hands in Harmony
at the Glen Hackett Auditorium in Shirley, Arkansas.
In addition, Shalom served as the stage manager, prompter and “little
assistant director” with the production of "Mornings
At Seven," a play in three
acts by Paul Osborn, directed by Diana Brodie and presented April 27, 28 & 29, 2001 at the Killebrew Theater of
the Ozark Heritage Arts Center in Leslie,
Arkansas.
In addition, Shalom has successfully completed an apprenticeship as a
cub-reporter, covering City of
Shirley Council Meetings, representing the
Fairfield
Bay News (clips available on request) and is now
doing an
apprenticeship in website development
(she has edited the copy and
designed and posted
the content of this page).
In language and graphic arts, Shalom has earned
multiple First Place and
Second Place awards in
various regional competitions sponsored
independently by the North Central Arkansas
Foundation for the Arts and
Education and by the Ozark Heritage Arts Center.
Shalom is also an accomplished couture, shining
with marked excellence in
designing “the look” that
captivates every eye.
For her work as a volunteer in community service, Shalom has been formally
acknowledged by Main Street Clinton (www.MainStreetClinton.com) and by the Fairfield Bay EMT Rescue
Squad. Shalom is available for limited engagements as spokesmodel talent for
advertising campaigns, including television commercial, print layout and
co hosting live events.
